The independent watch brand – FORTIS was founded by Walter Vogt in 1912. The company had successfully implemented an automatic winding concept invented by John Harwood into the production of automatic watches in 1926. Today, FORTIS watch company mainly specializes in timepieces made specifically for the aeronautic and space industries. This Spacematic model is the perfect example of the company's minimalist design with an emphasis on easy operation of this model's key features. The matte finish black PVD-coated stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter and is 12 mm in height. It's secured by screw on case back featuring engraved FORTIS logo in relief.

The black dial sports white luminous Arabic numeral and stick hour markers and is protected by an anti-reflective and anti-scratch sapphire crystal. The sword-shaped hands are coated with white luminous paint, Central red-colored sweep second hand. Day / Date apertures are conveniently located at 3:00 o'clock position.
