Corum

Founder: Rene Bannwart, an entrepreneur  and his uncle Gaston Ries founded the company in 1955.

Country: La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland

History: Corum was founded in 1955. Interestingly enough, Rene Bannwart really liked the word quorum and decided to simplify it and name the company Corum. By 1966, the son of Rene joined the company and created the famous Admirals Cup model. Furthermore, the square shaped Admiral's Cup watch was one of the first water resistant square models. 1965 was the time of oversized watches and the Buckingham watch was  created and very innovative at the time. One year later, the Romulus model featured Roman numeral hour markers engraved on the bezel rather than the dial. A true work of art, the feather watch was created and the dial actually featured beautiful bird feathers in 1970.  In 1980, the first wristwatch to feature baguette movement was created.
