Officine Panerai has roots dating back to 1860 when the company was founded in Florence, Italy, by Giovanni Panerai. Panerai built its solid reputation on supplying precision timekeeping instruments to the Italian navy and developing waterproof watches for soldiers who found themselves in extreme environments. More recently, the company moved its headquarters to Neuchâtel, Switzerland, where they have been producing quality in-house manufacture movements.

The cushion-shaped case is constructed of luxurious platinum and measures 47 mm in diameter. A challenging, yet, ultimately rewarding material to work with, Panerai uses 950 platinum, which is 95% pure and delivers a specific weight that is 11% heavier than 24K gold. The polished bezel is also platinum, as is the winding crown.

Additional case features include a water resistance to 100 m / 10 atm, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a skeletonized case back that allows one to see the movement in action.

Speaking of the movement, this manually wound watch is driven by Panerai’s P.3000 caliber, which beats at 21,600 vph, possesses 21 jewels, and delivers a fabulous three-day power reserve.

Understated and sincere, the brown dial offers a tasteful, minimalist arrangement of luminous hands and markers. The brown alligator leather strap sports a lovely 18K white gold tang buckle.
