History: Chopard was founded
in 1860 and achieved success in sales among many European and eastern European
countries. The company was transferred to La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1921 under the
ownership of Paul Louis Chopard. European disturbances like WWII caused a pause
in the success of the company. Karl Scheufele took over the company in 1963 and
by 1976 the first Happy diamonds watch was created, commemorating women. In
1980, the first sports watch with a leather strap was launched.The company became affliates with the Mille
Miglia car company and created the Mille Miglia watch line. Then in 1993,the Happy Sport line was launched. The
Chopard company became the official partner of the Cannes film festival. In the year 2000, the Chopard L.U.C
Quattro watch was created and had a power reserve of 9 days. By 2003 the Happy
Spirit collection was launched with a focus on pure geometrical shapes. In
2008, the company launched the L.U.C. Tourbillon tech twist watch, a truly
remarkable piece.
