Family-owned
Swiss producer Norqain makes adventure a priority, as can be seen in
the double N’s of their logo, which symbolizes a mountaintop. Their
three collections, Adventure, Freedom, and Independence, showcase
mechanical movements and a restless spirit to explore and innovate.
In
a highly limited edition, only 85 of these Stan the Man watches were
produced by Norqain. As a moving and aesthetically appropriate tribute
to tennis icon Stan Wawrinka, the timepiece draws inspiration from the
tennis world that results in bold, utterly unique stylings that will
surely serve as a conversation piece.
Wawrinka
was born in 1985, hence the number of the limited production run. Six
times lighter than steel and 3.5 times lighter than titanium, the case
is composed of a trademarked NORTEQ carbon fibre cage with a
tennis-themed yellow / green rubber shock absorber with a sandblasted
titanium container and exhibition case back. You’ll find the
measurements quite comfortable at 42 mm in diameter and 12.3 mm in
height.
In
keeping with the theme, the case plate on the left of the watch is
infused with tennis ball fiber while the black rubber of the strap
references a tennis net.
The
fascinating skeletonized dial sports a center red-tipped seconds arm as
well as applied diamond-cut flat rhodium-plated skeletonized
SuperLumiNova-filled yellow / green indexes and similarly fashioned
hands.
By
way of the skeleton dial and exhibition caseback we can check out the
chronometer-certified NN08S manufacture movement, which beats at 28,800
vph, possesses 26 jewels, and has a 41-hour power reserve.
Additional
features include a protected screw-down winding crown, a 200 m / 20 atm
water resistance, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
As a celebration of tennis icon Stan Wawrinka, this unique timepiece will surely make an invaluable addition to your collection.
