REC
Watches (which stands for Recover, Recycle, Reclaim) has been crafting
limited-production timepieces that include reclaimed materials from
historic sources since 2014. The brand designs its visionary watches in
Denmark and production takes place in Switzerland.
In
celebration of "King of Cool" Steve McQueen and his role in the 1963
WWII flick, The Great Escape, this TTT Escape timepiece possesses an
inner dial ring that is actually made from reforged metal from the 1961
TR6 Triumph Trophy motorcycle famously featured in the epic film.
After
being missing for many years the bike was rescued from a barn in
Norfolk, England. Its meticulous rehabilitation retained almost all of
its original parts.
However,
lucky for us, the reformed clutch plates and con-rods from the original
bike now live on for us to see inside the dial of each TTT Escape. As a
highly limited, sold-out edition, only 393 pieces were produced.
The
skeletonized multi-layered sandwich dial sports a unique 30-degree
rotation adjustment between Ride and Dress positions so you can keep the
12 o'clock position where you need it to be for easy viewing.
The
inner workings of the movement can be spied through the open center of
the dial, and a minute track conveniently runs the edge of the dial.
Luminous hands help out in low-light scenarios.
Intriguingly,
in this watch we find a nod to the original green color of the TR6
motorcycle. As such, look for that same color upon the interior lining
of the strap, the rotor, and the dial itself. In addition, we should
note that the WH-13371 that spreads across the dial at 5 o'clock was the
license plate number of the bike.
As
a self-winding automatic watch, the SW200-1 S b Sellita movement beats
at 28,800 vph, possesses 26 jewels, and gives you 41 hours of power
reserve.
The
316L stainless steel case measures 43 mm in diameter, 12.3 mm in
height, and rests upon a totally cool and sporty perforated brown double
calf leather strap with a stainless steel wire buckle with polished and
sandblasted finishing and a Black PVD-coated tongue.
Additional
features include a an exhibition caseback that allows you to see the
movement in action, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a 50 m / 5
atm water resistance.
As
a highly limited-edition and completely-sold out watch with a truly
unique construction, we are confident this this REC TTT Escape DNA
Edition timepiece will make a fabulous addition to your collection.

limited edition of only 393 pieces produced; unique construction
