The
famed Japanese watch company Seiko traces its roots back to a watch and
jewelry shop that first opened in 1881 in Tokyo’s Ginza district. Seiko
can mean either exquisite or success in Japanese, two words that the
brand continues to embody to this day. Offering a dynamic range of
timepieces at a variety of price-points, famed Japanese producer Seiko
offers something for everyone. Grand Seiko finally became a separate
manufacture brand from the Seiko brand in 2017, but from 1995 onward
Grand Seiko timepieces stood out as the brand’s crowning achievements.
Inspired
by how alluring and beautiful dusk can often be in the stylish Ginza
district, this highly limited Grand Seiko Heritage Collection Ginza
Edition timepiece is one of 200 pieces manufactured. Originally sold in
2021, it was only available in six official shops located in Ginza. As
such, today it can be a challenge to obtain.
The
gorgeous dusky blue dial showcases applied gold tone stick hour markers
and sword-shaped hands. There is also a date window at 3 and a
power-reserve indicator between 7 and 8.
The
stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter, 12.5 mm in height, and
rests upon a stainless steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp with push
release.
Additional
case features include a screw-down winding crown, a scratch-resistant
sapphire crystal, a water resistant case, and an exhibition case back
which allows you to see the movement in action.
Speaking
of the movement, this watch is driven by the Spring Drive automatic
9R65 caliber, which possesses 30 jewels and delivers a 72-hour power
reserve. Spring Drive technology utilizes the mainspring as its sole
power source. The mainspring drives a series of gears as you would find
in a mechanical watch and gives you a precision of one second a day.
