The Speedmaster Apollo XVII 45th Anniversary timepiece by Omega is a unique and tasteful celebration of the forty-fifth anniversary of the 1972 moon landing. As such, this watch is part of a limited edition of only 1,972 pieces produced, and can be a challenge to obtain.

The rugged ceramic bezel sports a convenient tach scale in dashing Ceragold that is impossible to miss. Upon the gorgeous blue ceramic dial "05:34 GMT" is printed to represent the moment the final step upon the moon was made in that mission.

Within the small seconds counter at 9 o'clock—in etched PVD—we have the Greek god Apollo in profile. Applied 18K yellow gold-tone markers and hands make the telling the time an ethereal otherworldly experience.

Chronograph functions include a center seconds hand, a 30-minute counter at 3, and a 12-hour counter at 6. The manually wound Omega 1861 caliber delivers about 48 hours of running power when fully wound.

The stainless steel case measures a comfortable 42 mm in diameter, 14.8 mm in height, and rests upon a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp. The solid caseback showcases a commemorative moon-themed engraving with the image of Apollo and American astronaut Gene Cernan's name.

Additional features include a push / pull winding crown, a 50 m / 5 atm water resistance, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
