Officine Panerai has
roots dating back to 1860 when the company was founded in Florence,
Italy, by Giovanni Panerai. Panerai built its solid reputation on
supplying precision timekeeping instruments to the Italian navy and
developing waterproof watches for soldiers who found themselves in
extreme environments. More recently, the company moved its headquarters
to Neuchâtel, Switzerland, where they have been producing quality
in-house manufacture movements.
While delivering iconic characteristics
that fortify Panerai’s cult following, make no mistake about it, this
Luminor Submersible is brimming with unique characteristics that will
make it a stellar addition to your collection.
First, this timepiece is one of a
special edition of only 1,000 watches produced. As such, it can prove to
be a difficult piece to obtain. In addition, it took home the favorite
sports watch of the year at Geneva’s Grand Prix D’Horlogerie, 2004,
which is a prestigious award judged by an international jury of
watchmaking experts.
This watch’s rugged titanium case
measures 47 mm in diameter and rests upon a black caoutchouc (rubber)
strap with a tang buckle. Additional case features include a screw-down
closed titanium case back, a screw-down and protected winding crown, and
a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
Prominently displayed is the ratcheted
unidirectionally rotating brushed stainless steel bezel with a handy
dive scale. Speaking of diving, you’re ready to go deep with this
watch’s phenomenal 2,500 m / 250 atm water resistance.
With its classic Panerai stylings, the
black-colored dial sports a small seconds at 9, a date window at 3, a
minute track in white, and luminous hands and Arabic numerals and
markers. Driven by Panerai’s OP III caliber, this self-winding automatic
Luminor beats at 28,800 vph, possesses 21 jewels, and delivers a
42-hour power reserve.
From its fantastic dive capabilities to
its limited availability, we are pleased to present this Panerai Luminor
Submersible here for your consideration.
