Essence of Time, Inc. :: Manufacturers :: Maurice Lacroix

In 1975 the watch producer Maurice Lacroix was established as part of Desco von Schulthess, a company with a tradition of representing luxury watch brands. The brand experienced immediate success, and by 1989 Maurice Lacroix acquired case maker Queloz S.A. The ability to make cases in-house proved to be a boon. Their Masterpiece line of timepieces in the 1990s were recognized for their precision and celebrated for possessing movements made by Maurice Lacroix. Limited-edition models from the Masterpiece line based on heritage movements include watches with alarms, chronographs, and jumping hour functions. In the 2000s Maurice Lacroix displayed expertise in timepieces with retrograde functions, chronographs, and moon phase indicators. Indeed, the brand’s “roue carrée,” or square wheel, is a treat to watch as it turns. After 2006 the brand began producing complex movement components for mechanical calibers in its own workshops near Saignelegier. The memory function of their Memoire 1 is recognized as an entirely new Grande Complication. Maurice Lacroix became independent in 2001, which is a standout feature among Swiss watch manufacturers.
