As a relative
newcomer to the Swiss luxury-watch world, Frédérique
Constant was founded in 1988 by a Dutch couple, Aletta and Peter
Stas, who wanted to give consumers a luxury-watch option that would not break
the bank. The brand name pays tribute to their grandparents, and in 2004 they
released their first movement created entirely in-house, the Heart Beat. In
2007 Frédérique Constant began production of a
silicon escapement wheel and quickly embraced the use of high-tech materials.
Their tourbillon from 2008 has been much celebrated for its precision.
The brand’s most-celebrated lines include the Slimline Manufacture
Automatic, the Heart Beat Manufacture, the Ladies Automatic, the Runabout, and
the Vintage Rally. Since 2004 Frédérique Constant has supported many classic car rallies,
including the Healey Challenges. International polo star Samir Suhag serves as
a Frédérique
Constant brand ambassador and actress Gwenyth Paltrow serves as global
Charity brand ambassador. Aletta and Peter sold
the brand to Citizen in 2016.
